Okay. I absolutely despise the background on this, because their basically isn't one, and what sky there is is choppy and irritating. But I'm really, really happy with the figure, and I haven't been able to fix the background, after weeks of trying. I give up. Or maybe I'll steal Mooey's Copic markers sometime, and finish it. We shall see. 'Til then, Moon's been incredibly patient- I think I promised this to her about a year ago. Which is rather pathetic. Anyway... The character is copyright to her player, so please don't use this image as is. If you can make it look not like Moon, though, have at. (And if you let me see what you've done with it, I'd be ecstatic.)
EDIT: Behold the wonders of Photoshop! Now the background is not so choppy, and I believe it's still simple enough not to distract. I found this fabulous brush that is grass, and was taught how to use layers! Needless to say, I will be wasting much time playing with my pictures from now on. Thank you to Mooey! (aka ~completeaccident) Please feel free to make suggestions!
I agree with what you said in your description, I don't really like the background. But I just LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! The figurine...however, one must always take into account of the whole composition and its overall impression. That can sometimes make the difference between a good and bad picture.
Thank you. About the figure, I mean, and I really hate the background, too, so it doesn't offend me that you don't like it. I am going to try to color this digitally, now that I have a tablet, or perhaps retrace it and try doing a watercolor with a background predrawn. We shall see. Thank you for you comment! I know what you mean about the background making or breaking a picture.... This almost breaks it, I think.
Mmmmm, beautiful! Wow, not what I expected at all. It's so bright and vivid and contrasty! She's pretteh. The anatomy on this is utterly fabulous. The hands are beautiful, the legs are dainty, she's gorgeous. The tail looks a little bit like it's been stapled on, though. I want that outfit. o.o I bet she gets cold thighs, though. PS. Your scanner sucks. It messed up the right side of the picture. Does it have a 'fading correction' option on it?
My scanner does suck. Indeed. And I don't know, because my scan button doesn't work anymore, I have to access it through My Computer. Hmph. Her tail does look stapled on.... Any suggestions how to fix that?
If you do a little shading around the base, or lines to indicate that it's coming through the fabric instead of sitting on top of it, I find it helps...? I don't know, it's hard.
Wow, the colors are awesome. It is most impressive to me that you did this in water color. I love her stance, and the styling and coloring on her clothing as well. I do agree with the previous comment about it fading towards the right of the picture, but it is none the less still lovely.
Great Job.
About 95% of the fading is my scanner having a party with my picture! It has been reprimanded, but I am beginning to believe that my scanner is a heavy drinker, and will have forgotten by the next time I scan something in color. The other 5% was "artistic," and there used to be a moon up in the corner. The moon had to go, though, which now leaves the 5% of fading inexplicable. May I say it again? The background is horrendous.
You're very insistant on the background being horrible, aren't you?
I understand now that you say it had a moon in the corner, but it had to go. It just looked like a bright sunny day without it. ^.^ My Scanner has some learning disorder. It takes ages to scan anything, which is why I am afraid to design and scan in my dress ideas for civica. ^.^;; Oi
I love the vibrancy of the colours on this, you can't possibly be serious about the background- the simplistic style of the plain blue makes the foreground pop out a lot more.. and I dig the way you've done the lighter colours to her body in appropriate places for highlight. This is a beautifully kinesthetic piece.
